Tips for Preparing Your Obituary Program Text & Photos

Gathering the details for a funeral program can feel overwhelming. At Discount Printing Detroit, we make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. If you don't have a finished design ready to print, we provide professional, pre-designed templates and handle the complete layout for you. You simply supply us with the text and photographs, and our team will beautifully arrange and typeset everything into a premium, dignified keepsake. To help us build the perfect layout for your loved one, keeping a few key guidelines in mind ensures an exceptional final print.

Key Details to Provide for Your Template Layout:

• The Vital Announcements: Clearly list the full name, date of birth, and date of passing. You may choose to include the place of birth and passing as well.

• Life Milestones: Provide a chronological overview of their journey, including details like education, career milestones, military service, marriage, or foundational hobbies and passions.

• Family Legacies: It is traditional to list surviving family members in order of relation (e.g., spouse, children, grandchildren, followed by parents and siblings).

• Service & Gathering Events: Provide precise details for the public or private services, including exact times, locations, and any specific notes regarding luncheons or final resting places.

• Memorial & Donation Requests: If the family prefers memorial contributions or specific foundations in lieu of flowers, place these details clearly at the conclusion of the text.

Photo Guidelines for Premium Print Quality:

Because we handle the complete placement and sizing of your images on our commercial printing equipment, providing high-quality files ensures stunning photo replication:

• Avoid Social Media Downloads: Photos saved from Facebook or sent via text message are heavily compressed and may print pixelated or blurry.

• Use Original Files or High-Res Scans: Whenever possible, upload original digital camera photos. If you are scanning physical photographs, set your scanner settings to "High Resolution" or a minimum of 300 DPI (dots per inch).

• Collage Page Planning: If you are ordering an extended 8-page booklet, grouping 12 to 15 high-quality photos allows us to create a beautiful celebratory collage page without overcrowding the text.

If you are utilizing our Video Slide Show service, these same high-resolution files will ensure a flawless presentation on-screen.
