Get much more bang for your buck by including a custom Quick Response code on your business cards, postcards or posters!

A QR code is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and cellular phone cameras. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The encoded date can include text, URL, or other data.

Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. The QR code was created to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

The technology has seen frequent use in Japan and South Korea, however, West has been a slower to adopt the use of QR codes.

Since a QR code can be a url/link, contact entry or even an event/calendar listing, it is very useful to incorporate a custom QR code into your business card design. If someone has your business card and is not in front of a computer, but has a smart phone, they can scan your code and be taken right to your website.

Another excellent example of using a QR code on a business card or even a postcard is for event promoters. You can put a custom QR code on your event card or flyer with a direct link to purchase tickets or to the event's entertainment bios or website.  Even a calendar listing can be encoded to add your event to a person's iPhone, Android phone or iPad. With the mention of Apple's iOS 5 and new iCloud service, your event info and links will be automatically synced to every wireless device that person owns.

Pretty effective marketing and all you have to do is add a custom QR code to your full color business card, postcard or poster.

Suddenly you have much more information to offer the user than would ever fit on your printed card that can viewed at their leisure and saved to their device!
